Mi selección musical (1)

Cada cierto tiempo iré poniendo mi música favorita, esas canciones que me llevaría a una isla desierta. Algunos grupos o solistas famosos no aparecerán. Para ellos tengo reservado monográficos especiales. Y de momento música en inglés. Más adelante ya pondré canciones en español o catalán. Empezamos:

HOTEL CALIFORNIA (The Eagles)

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,'said the night man,
We are programmed to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can never leave!

IN THE YEAR 2525 (Zager & Evans)

In the year 2525
if man is still alive
if woman can survive
they may find

In the year 3535
ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
everything you think, do and say
is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
you ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
you won't find a thing to chew
nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
your arms hangin' limp at your sides
your legs got nothin' to do
some machine's doin' that for you

In the year 6565
you won't need no husband, won't need no wife
you'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
from the bottom of a long glass tube

In the year 7510
if god's a-coming, he oughta make it by then
maybe he'll look around himself and say
"guess it's time for the judgement day"

In the year 8510
god is gonna shake his mighty head
he'll either say "i'm pleased where man has been"
or tear it down, and start again

In the year 9595
i'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
he's taken everything this old earth can give
and he ain't put back nothing

Now it's been ten thousand years
man has cried a billion tears
for what, he never knew
now man's reign is through
But through eternal night
the twinkling of starlight
so very far away
maybe it's only yesterday

THE WAY (Fastball)

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going without ever
Knowing the way?

They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down they started walking
Where were they going without ever
Knowing the way?

Chorus:
Anyone can see the road that they walk on
Is paved in gold
And it's always summer
They'll never get cold
They'll never get hungry
They'll never get old and grey
You can see their shadows wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happier there today, today

Their children woke up
And they couldn't find them
They left before the sun came up that day
They just drove off and left it all behind 'em
But where were they going without ever
Knowing the way?

Chorus
